Ive got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell
Revised!!! because it made no sense
So I got back from YC last night at like 1 - 1:30 and BOY am i tired. i could barely keep my eyes open today
All I can say is holy crap. best weekend of my life. Good God. Good speakers. Good music
Boy let me tell you the energy in there was overwhelming. 16,000 people.. Toby Mac said something that definatly described it. he said
" the bible says that when 2 or 3 people gather together God is there. And if im doing my math right. Gods definatly in this place"
The speakers were amazing. they hit home for me
the speakers were
Miles McPherson- he talked about something that was in matts blog actually. which was ironic but he said that people blame the devil for things of our own ignorance. it seems like the phrase "the devil made me do it" is a quick fix to explain your own mistakes. he was pretty cool i liked him. he was the first speaker so he was the one who asked who wanted to become a christian. and literaly thousands stood up. it was amazing
Mike Pilavachi- He was an english guy who was halarious. he spoke twice i think. i dont really remeber . but anyways he was talking about well... i forget his name but hes like a 79 year old man who makes friends with terrorists and stuff. but the point was would you go out of your comfort zone for God even if it ment making friends with people from the columbian drug trade.
quote from him "and in the voice only a little 7 year old girl can have she said. did you just get fat or were you always like that?"
Phil dooley- Perhaps the funniest austrialian in the world. haha. I loved him so much. he was the youth pastor for United he was so full of energy and i heard him speak twice once was when we went to a session for making your relationship with God personal. and a grits concert was in the background and he said "maybe i should rap this whole thing". then he made up this horrible rhyme and it went a little something like this " im talkin about moses and a bush on fire watch out you kangaroos cause i can jump higher"
"hippy ho jiggy jiggy"
and bob stromberg a guy who just did like illusions and stuff he did the funniest shadow puppet show iv ever seen, so freakin talented haha he made an old mans face. at first i thought it was his. haha
" the fox...and the hooooooouuuuuund act....2"
but the bands that we went to see were
Toby Mac- which put on the best show in my opinion .
one of the two black guys who rapped and sang with him did a backflip off of a 6 foot speaker and was break dancing. and there was a "solo fight" the girl would do a voice solo then the guitar
player would do a solo back. amazing he whipped out all kinds of instruments like a trumpet and the weirdest classical guitar iv ever seen. it was flat guys..what the heck.
Kutless- best musically in my opinion. they did such a good job. grace and love was amazing we saw them twice and once we were on the floor he had such a deep/clean voice. and the guitar players were crazy good. they swung their guitars around there shoulders at the same time and started playing again
Hillsongs united- the worship band. wow.even better than last year they were so in fire for God they gave off so much energy it wasnt even funny. well it was. they were like hopping everywhere. and at the end phil dooley sang a bit of the song. iv neevr heard anyone sing with an accent before..he did. haha mike love also sang with him. he tried to jump onto the drum set and he knocked over part of it haha
tree 63 did a worship set. i liked the guys voice alot
TFK- they would have been good if we would have not been behind the speakers and in the back corner of the nosebleed section. but they were good despite that we could hear the song this is a call. that was real good
Audio adrenaline also put on an amazing show. he was walking in the crowd and whipped out the old " iv got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell" line and had a cowbell solo...amazing and he lost his voice. thats how you know your doing it right haha .
he got some kids on the stage to sing some of the song. one girl had no rhytem. one girl sucked cause she forgot the words and one guy.. well i didnt pay attention. im assuming he was better because he sang the chorus
Hawk nelson was very good. there were so many people there. we hadta wait outside because they had the small stage but when we got in we went straight into the moshpit. then i went to buy a cd after and got it signed, they were also one of the best musically from what i heard at least.
Delerious was ok.. not my favorite but his voice is real good but nothing special
Grits...was bad live. i hate hiphop live but they were ok. i guess. not my cup of tea though
and HURRAH for the pyro show. fireworks and fireballs up the wazoo. you could literaly feel the heat wafting over you
on the way home we picked up a signal from other peoples walkie talkies and we were talking to them. one was from BC and one was from edmonton. then we realized one of them were right beside us in a van...weird.
and im stealing this from jess's blog
"where are you guys from?"
"were from edmonton and we look funny"
all in all it was a truly amazing weekend. God was there and moved 16,000 people. worship was amazing and wow .. words cant even describe it.
sorry about the insanly long post. but no simpsons quote of the day cause im lazy so heres the quote of the weekend
" i have a question for you guys... you are electric"
" dude thats more of a statement than a question"
"oh...ok. you are...electric?"
-hawk nelson guys
---------------------------------------------------------
" i love watching canadians"
-hawk nelson
---------------------------------------------------------
i had to walk both ways up hill naked
dad...you werent naked
well i was almost naked. i had socks...and a belt. the belt kept an inch and half of me toasty
-bob stromberg
---------------------------------------------------------
the schoolbus from hell...featuring the killdren
theres no one in that killbus!
- me
----------------------------------------------------------
i feel like a grade 7 girl who goes up to a guy and says "my friend thinks you're hot, can i take a picture?"
-lance ( in refernce to jess wanting a picture of subway...aw....so hot haha)
